Frederick E. Behnke Sr. 1952-2026

HUBBARD — Frederick E. Behnke Sr., 74, passed away Saturday, July 11, 2026, with his loving family by his side at home.

Frederick was born Jan. 10, 1952, in Youngstown, a son of Frederick R. and Janice Green Behnke. He was a 1970 graduate of Wilson High School.

Frederick was a grill worker and later maintenance at Red Barn; Little Shopper, which later became Country Fair; and Schwebel’s Bakery in Youngstown, retiring in 2017.

He enjoyed driving both of his Corvettes and was a member of various car clubs.

He was a member of St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard.

Frederick will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his wife, the former Betty Jane Cerbus, whom he married April 14, 1973; his children, Frederick E. Behnke Jr. of Hubbard and Todd A. (Stephanie) Behnke of Niles; two grandchildren, James Behnke and Annaleigh Behnke; two step-grandchildren, Max Wolford and Emma Wolford; and a step-great grandson, Ezra. He also leaves his sisters, Margaret (Ken) Cherol and Kathryn (Jeff) Daloise, both of Poland.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Behnke; and sister, Judy Stanislaw.

There will be calling hours 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2026, and 10 to 10:40 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026, at St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church in Hubbard, with the Very Reverend Michael D. Balash officiating.

Frederick will be laid to rest in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
