Eileen R. Flora 1934-2026

Together again

STRUTHERS — Eileen R. Flora, 91, entered into eternal rest Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at her home surrounded by her caring and loving family.

Eileen was born Sept. 20, 1934, in Struthers, to the late William J. Higgins and Anne Mikulas Higgins Roth.

Eileen was a 1952 graduate of Struthers High School and lived in Struthers most of her life.

On May 14, 1954, she married the love of her life, Joseph M. Flora Jr. They were married for 62 years prior to his passing in 2016. They joyfully traveled together to over 38 states and Canada.

Eileen worked for the law offices of Attorney Michael Clemente as a legal secretary for more than 25 years, retiring in 1996.

Eileen and Joe started the Struthers Chair Rental business and the famous craft show at St. Nicholas Church, where she had been a lifetime member. Eileen was very active in Ladies of Charity, the Altar and Rosary Society and Eucharistic Ministry. Eileen volunteered at St. Elizabeth Hospital Pastoral Care, receiving an award for over 150 hours of volunteer service. She was a lifetime member of Lowellville Senior Citizens, where she served as treasurer, a member of the Lowellville ladies bocce team, the Mahoning Valley Cribbage Club and Struthers Friends of the Library.

Eileen and Joe baptized or confirmed over 16 children of family and friends.

Eileen will be deeply missed by her sons, Robert J. of Houston, Texas, and Daniel J. of Struthers; grandchildren Matthew and Megan (Justin) Finger; great-granddaughter, Charlotte of Sugar Land, Texas, Michael (Alyssa) of Houston, Texas, and Marc of Ohio; sisters, Norma J. Higgins and Margaret L. Schwab; and brother, William J. Higgins Jr., all of Struthers. She also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins; great-nieces and -nephews; and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Flora Jr.; son, Joseph W. Flora; daughter-in-law, Ilene Flora; sister, Marjorie Dicicco; sister-in-law, Margaret Higgins; her brothers-in-law, Michael Dicicco and William Schwab; and her in-laws, Frank (Laverne) Flora, Theodore (Violet) Flora, Anthony (Theresa) Flora, Helen (Michael) Volsko and Ann (James) DeMain.

Eileen wishes to thank her son Danny for over 20 years of care and companionship he lovingly gave to her and also thanks to Harmony Hospice.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, July 17, at Clemente Funeral Home in Struthers.

A prayer service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish-St. Nicholas Church in Struthers.
