Daniel R. Gibboney 1940-2026

PULASKI, Pa. — Daniel R. Gibboney, 86, passed away Monday, June 15, 2026, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House in Poland.

Daniel was born June 13, 1940, in Youngstown, a son of George Russell and Jennie Shaffer Gibboney.

A 1958 graduate of Union High School in New Castle, Daniel dedicated many years of his career as a millwright at General Extrusions. He was a hardworking man who enjoyed spending time outdoors and had a passion for hunting in the Allegheny National Forest and cutting firewood. Daniel was also an avid Civil War enthusiast and proudly participated in reenactments with the 19th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was a member of the Youngstown Eagles and the Johnson Club.

On Oct. 27, 1962, Daniel married the love of his life, the former Judith Laverock. Together, they shared nearly 64 wonderful years of marriage.

Above all, Daniel cherished his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and proud “Papa” whose greatest joy came from spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Judith Gibboney; his sons, Daniel Gibboney, David Gibboney and Dale (Cathy) Gibboney; his grandchildren, Bryce Gibboney, Autumn (Edward) Schiattone and Alec Gibboney; his brother-in-law, Walter Bodine; and many extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Bodine; and his daughter-in-law, Lori Gibboney.

Family and friends will be received 5 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main Street, Poland, OH 44514. A service will follow at 6 p.m.
