Charlotte A. Bottar 1931-2026

HUBBARD -- Charlotte A. Bottar, 94, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026, at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown.

Charlotte was born Dec. 8, 1931, in Muddelmow, Germany, a daughter of Otto and Frieda Brotzmann Moede.

Charlotte married John Bottar on Feb. 3, 1951, and they immigrated to the United States in 1952. She will be fondly remembered for her sense of humor, delicious cooking and the pride she had in her growing family.

Charlotte enjoyed participating in a bowling league, trips with the Happy Wanderers group and watching birds, particularly cardinals, at her bird feeders. She was known for making the best apple and rhubarb custard pies. She also loved Pizza Works pizza, coffee and an afternoon cookie.

Charlotte will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family: her children, Karin (Michael) Schnaidt of Germany, Dr. Peter (Lynn) Bottar of Hubbard, Margie (Jim) Mezzara of West Middlesex, Pa., Nancy Luthern of Hubbard and John A. (Deanna) Bottar of Madison. She was a loving Oma to 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by her brother, Karl Moede of Germany.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; her sister, Elisabeth Moede; her brother, Willi Moede; and her son-in-law, Joe Luthern.

She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and a fraternal member of the Saxon Club.

Calling hours will be 10 to 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.

Services will begin at noon Saturday, July 11, 2026, at Grace Lutheran Church, Hubbard.

Charlotte will be laid to rest in Hubbard Union Cemetery.
