Stephen M. Pazel 1951-2026

AUSTINTOWN — Stephen M. “Peewee” Pazel, of Austintown, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Hospice House, with his loving family at his side.

He was born April 7, 1951, in Youngstown, a son of the late Stephen and Irene Ewolhin Pazel.

Stephen’s journey in life was marked by dedication to work, devotion to his family, and a strong connection to his hometown.

Stephen’s career reflected an exceptional work ethic and versatility. He was extensively involved in the family business at Pesa Carpet, as a skilled carpet installer, contributing to a legacy of craftsmanship and reliability. He also brought his skills to Decorative Aluminum Manufacturing and spent time in leadership as a supervisor at K Martin in Apache Junction, Arizona.

Stephen returned from Florida 12 years ago to make Youngstown his home once again, reaffirming his deep roots in the community where his story began.

He is survived by his brother, George (Colleen) Pazel of Youngstown; sisters, Shirley (Paul) Pesa of Austintown and Marjorie Pazel of Apache Junction, Arizona; and his significant other, Loretta Hoffman; along with several nieces and nephews, remain to cherish his memory and honor his legacy.

Besides his parents, Stephen was preceded by his beloved daughter, Stephanie Hoffman; his siblings, JoAnn Smith, William Pazel, Frank Pazel and Stephen Pazel Jr., who passed away at age 5. Their memories endure as part of the tapestry of his life.

Stephen’s life will be remembered and celebrated by all who were fortunate to know him. Those wishing to pay their respects may attend visitation from 10 to 11:45 a.m. on June 30, 2026, at The McCauley Funeral Home, 230 Broadway Ave., Youngstown, OH 44504.

A funeral service will follow at noon at the same location.

Stephen M. Pazel’s legacy is one of steadfast dedication and cherished relationships, leaving an indelible mark on his family, friends and community.
