Shirley R. Tenney 1939-2026
BOARDMAN — Shirley R. Tenney, 87, of North Lima, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday afternoon, June 24, 2026, in the emergency room at St. Elizabeth Hospital.
She was born March 5, 1939, in Marion County, W.Va., the only daughter of Wilbert and Gypsy Moore Amos. She graduated from Mannington High School in West Virginia.
She married Kenneth D. Tenney on July 2, 1958; they were married for 57 years. She enjoyed taking care of their five children and loved to be outside in her vegetable and flower gardens.
Shirley was a caregiver at Ron-Joy Nursing Home in Youngstown for 30 years.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory two daughters, Debora S. Tenney and Loretta J. Tenney; three sons, Kenneth W. (Carol) Tenney, Philip C. (Belinda) Tenney Sr. and David E. (Guyla) Tenney; six grandchildren, Dacia Redmond, Derek Tenney, Philip C. Tenney Jr., Kaila Tenney, Mathew Tenney and Meagan Tenney; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kenneth, who passed away July 29, 2015; and three brothers, Harold “Ralph,” James and Danny Amos.
Per her wishes, private funeral services will be held.
The family requests donations may be made in Shirley’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
