Ruth Ann Connelly 1941-2026

She was born Nov. 27, 1941, in Youngstown, a daughter of Robert J. and Lelia Mae Knight Bickerstaff.

Ruth Ann was a 1959 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. She married Leo H. Connelly in 1962, and together they shared 17 years of marriage until his passing in May 1979.

She was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend whose greatest joy in life was her family. As a loving mother of her only child, Matthew Connelly, she created a close-knit family filled with laughter, love and unwavering support. She especially cherished her grandsons, showering them with love and affection at every opportunity.

Ruth Ann was a longtime member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Youngstown and Gethsemane Lutheran Church in North Jackson. She loved time with family, music, playing cards / games, cleaning and organizing. She also loved ice cream and making those around her laugh with her quick sense of humor. Her hearty laugh would fill the room with joy. Her faith guided her throughout her life and was reflected in the love and compassion she showed to others.

She is survived by her son, Matthew Connelly and his wife, Amy Connelly; her grandson, Ryan Connelly and his wife, Margaret; and her grandson, Jacob Connelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert J. and Lelia Mae Bickerstaff; her sisters, Karen Purnell and Susan Carr; and her beloved grandson, Adam Knight Connelly.

Private graveside services for immediate family have taken place at Green Haven Memorial Gardens, Canfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 1110 N. Salem-Warren Road, North Jackson, OH 44451.
