Rose S. Pink 1936-2026

EAST PALESTINE — Rose S. Pink, 89, died Friday, June 12, 2026, at Masternick Memorial Health Care Center, New Middletown.

She was born Aug. 20, 1936, in Butler, Pa., daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Novicki Pitera.

Rose had worked as a deli manager for McCurdy’s Giant Eagle for years and was known by all in town.

She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, could grow anything with her green thumb and was an outstanding cook, making countless memorable dishes. Rose was strong in her faith and deeply loved her family.

Her husband, Alex J. Pink, whom she married Feb. 2, 1957, preceded her in death Dec. 15, 2013.

Rose is survived by her daughter, Cynthia (Jim) Krebs of East Palestine; two sons, Timothy (Sharon) Pink of East Palestine and Benjamin (Rhonda) Pink of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren, Andrew (Veronica) Pink, Stephanie (Brian) Pink, Heather (Chad) Pink, Lauren (Josh) Minniti, Matthew (Megan) Krebs, Annelise (Connor) Pink, Jessica (Gavin) Pink and Christopher (Emily) Pink; two stepgrandchildren, Jennifer (Farhood) Wohlgemuth and Matt (Rinn) Wohlgemuth; 17 great-grandchildren, Xander, Kambria, Bailey Rose, Jonathan, Hudson, Aviana, Liliana, Brycen, Madelyn, Jaxen, Jayce, Hayden, Dominic, Jordan, Brandon, Bentley and Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Matthew J. Pink; seven sisters, Anna Gargasz, Mary Gargasz, Catherine Chestley, Helen Lombardo, Genny Gargasz, Barbara Bovard and Frances Zedreck; two brothers, Pete and Joe Pitera; and her loving companion, Carl Coe.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor John Dobritch officiating.

Burial will take place in Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine, immediately following the service.
