Lois A. Sanders Heintz 1933-2026

BOARDMAN — Lois Ann Sanders Heintz, 92, formerly of Brookfield, Ohio, Hermitage, Pa., and Maramont Drive, Boardman, passed away peacefully Friday, June 12, 2026, at The Inn at Poland Way surrounded by her loving family.

Lois was born July 20, 1933, in Pittsburgh, Pa., a daughter of the late Charles Mitchell Sanders and Gladys Helen Chivers Sanders.

She graduated from Mount Lebanon High School in 1951 and attended Westminster College. Lois resided in Brookfield and in Hermitage, Pa., for nearly 40 years. Following her retirement in 1996, she moved to Boardman to be closer to her family.

Lois began her career with Prudential Insurance in Pittsburgh and later transferred to the company’s Sharon office, where she worked in a clerical capacity. She subsequently worked for United Way of Mercer County for 10 years before joining the Mercer County office of the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services. After 16 years of dedicated service, she retired in 1996.

A devoted mother, grandmother, aunt and sister, Lois treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed her annual road trip vacations with her sister, traveling throughout the country by automobile.

Lois is survived by her two sons, Jeffrey Heintz and his spouse, Jill Jones-Heintz of Boardman, and Douglas Heintz and his spouse, Gabriela Heide of Mersch, Luxembourg; six grandchildren, Evan Heintz and his spouse, Rachel Coburn of Madison, Wisconsin, Tyler Nichols-Fleming and his spouse, Fiona of Washington, D.C., Charlyn Heintz of Mersch, Luxembourg, Justin Heintz of Utrecht, Netherlands, Dennis Heintz of Delft, Netherlands, and Kevin Heintz of New York, New York. She is also survived by her sister, Janice Cole of Chesterfield, Missouri, along with several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Lois’ wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service at this time. The family is planning a private service to take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made, in memory of Lois, to the Mill Creek MetroParks Foundation, designated for the Children’s Garden, 123 McKinley Ave., Youngstown, OH 44509, www.lovemillcreek.org.
