Katherine Wolf 1931-2026
POLAND — Katherine “Kay” Wolf, 94, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, June 25, 2026.
She was born July 29, 1931, to Joseph and Philomena “Minnie” Dundee on Youngstown’s East Side.
She maintained a close connection to the East Side before moving to Youngstown’s South Side to raise her family. The youngest of her siblings, she left East High School early to support her mother and family.
Kay was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area and a member of the Basilica of Our Lady of Mount Carmel (and their Mothers of Crucifix Society) with a strong devotion to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Kay was also a member of the Gerdina De Dalia Lodge.
Kay was a proud homemaker in addition to a successful retail career including Woolworth, Wilkins-Leonard, JCPenney, Miracle Drug and Higbee’s (McKelvey’s), where she worked in the cosmetics department before retiring.
She loved to cook, bake and entertain; playing cards with friends, old and new; she enjoyed travel adventures and spending time with her lifelong (departed) friends Mary Vecchiarelli and Josephine Pallotta. Kay enjoyed watching TV game shows in her later years, where she vigorously played along.
Kay leaves behind her loving sons, Ray Wolf of Poland, with whom she made her home; Robert (Sandra) Dundee of Naples, Florida; and grandson, Joseph Dundee of Sunrise, Florida (both formerly of Canfield).
She was “Aunt Babe” to several nieces and nephews: Phyllis (Bill) Thompson, Nick (Linda) Dundee, John (Donna) Carbon, Bob (Diane) Carbon and their families; “Aunty” and “Grandma” to special friends Ankush and Namita Kumar and children, Anwita and Adwit; “Ytown-Mom” to friends Scott and Theresa Maier; and simply “Babe” to cousins Bill (Jackie) Lucarell, Phyllis (Tony) Cafaro and Don (Jane) Lucarell.
Kay was preceded in death by her beloved parents; brothers, Nick (Jennie) Dundee and Frank Dundee; sister, Marie (John) Carbon; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Dundee.
