John Coburn Pardee 1946-2026
AUSTINTOWN — John Coburn Pardee, 79, passed away suddenly Sunday, May 31, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
He was the son of the late John C. Pardee and Lucile O. Pardee.
A 1964 Boardman High School graduate, he attended Ohio State University and graduated from Youngstown State University.
John worked in accounting and stock brokerage for many years, beginning at Republic Steel and later at LPL Financial, and most recently worked at a regional health nonprofit.
Love of God and country and service to his fellow man were guiding principles in John’s life. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving first in the submarine corps and later being stationed in Japan.
John was an avid fan of many sports, but golf was most interwoven with his life. He worked as a boy at Pardee’s Golf Shop and played in tournaments with his parents. He traveled to visit courses and volunteer at major championships. He was recognized by the PGA for two holes-in-one at Mill Creek Park–feats somehow anticipated by his hanging of two Sis Soller paintings of those specific holes on his home’s walls.
Most recently, John served as treasurer of the Mill Creek Senior Men’s Golf League, enjoying the camaraderie of his fellow golfers. John also enjoyed the Chautauqua Institution, where his family maintained a summer cottage on the lake, Boardman High School reunions and the faithful inspiration he found at St. Christine Church.
He is survived by his sister, Suzanne Pardee Mokhiber of Pittsford, New York; nephew, James Pardee Mokhiber (Erin) of New Orleans, Louisiana; niece, Martha Pardee Carlson (Ed) of Washingtonville, New York; nephew, Robert John Pardee (Jamie) of Johnstown; and nephew, James Ross Pardee of Rochester, New York, and their families.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia H. Pardee of Youngstown; brother, Pierre James Pardee of Pittsford, New York; and grandparents, James G. and Edna L. Pardee of Youngstown, and Fred H. and Charlotte S. Ottman of Chicago, Illinois.
