Ingrid Paula McConnell 1945-2026

MINERAL RIDGE — Ingrid Paula McConnell passed away Saturday, May 30, 2026, after a short illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born Oct. 7, 1945, she was the fourth of five children of Anna Marie Larbig and Wilhelm Gob in Dietershan, Germany.

After graduating school, she entered trade school for making and repairing shoes along with reupholstering furniture.

After a short time, she decided to start waitressing. Shortly thereafter she met her husband, Paul. After a year of dating, they married, and in January 1971, they returned to the U.S.

For several years and after the birth of their third child, she returned to working at John Vincent’s Pub in the Southern Park Mall. After the pub closed, she had several jobs as a mixologist, finally working at the Gatsby Restaurant and Lounge in Austintown, from which she retired after 20-plus years.

She loved to cook meals and bake cakes. She was known for her cheesecakes and almond fluff.

She is survived by her husband, Paul; a daughter, Manuela Shields of Mineral Ridge; a daughter, Stefanie (Earl) Beahr of Bellville; a son, Jerome (Kristen) McConnell of Smiths Grove, Kentucky; grandchildren, Jordan Beahr, Zachary Beahr, T. J. Noble, Chloe Noble, Dakota Noble and Jacob McConnell; several nieces and nephews; and her German family, Woltraud (Otmar) Jonas and Marianna Reith. In addition, she will be sadly missed by James J. McConnell of New Philadelphia, Patrick McConnell of Wilmington, North Carolina, and Patricia (Raymond) Makara of Canfield; along with nephews, Uwe and Jork Schmitt, and Phillip and Frederick Reith; nieces Heike Mummert and Sandra Baumbach; and several first cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Aberhardt Gob; and a sister and brother-in-law, Gertrud and Ernst Schmitt.

Services will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Queen of Heaven Parish-St. Mary Church, 3504 Main St., Mineral Ridge, OH 44440, with interment to follow in Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 3504 S. Main St., Mineral Ridge, OH 44440.
