Herbert P. Good 1942-2026

HUBBARD — Herbert Paul Good, 83, passed away Sunday morning, June 7, 2026, at his daughter’s home in North Carolina, where he and his wife made their residence.

He was born Oct. 12, 1942, in Spangler, Pa., to Herbert T. Good and Helen Wise Good Bender.

Mr. Good graduated from Hubbard High School in 1961; he then enrolled in the Army to serve for three years.

Following his release from the Army, he worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube for a few years. He then decided to go to school to be a barber / hairstylist, and after graduating, opened his own salon (Mr. Herbert’s) in Canfield, where he worked for over 50 years, retiring in 2020.

In 1964, he married the late Jessica A. Schuller, and they had two children, the late James P. (Pamela) Good of Hubbard and Michelle Good (Kevin) DuBose of Lumberton, North Carolina.

Herbert remarried in 2016 to Donna Hughes Good. He also leaves behind a stepdaughter, Jessica Hughes (Billy) Judeh of Cortland; a brother, Eugene Good of Hubbard; two half-brothers, Ron (Peanut) Bender of Cherry Tree, Pa., and Dwight Bender of Hopewell, Pa.; three half-sisters, Betty (Pat) Leslie of Nicktown, Pa., Denise (Joe) Fox of Patton, Pa., and Judy (Joe) Romano of Bridgeport, Pa; and four grandsons, James Good of Columbus, Daniel Good of Hubbard, Daryl (Nicole) Babcock of Lamar, South Carolina, and Adam Judeh of Cortland.

Fishing, camping and boating were among his favorite pastimes.

He was involved with his church for over 40 years as a Sunday school teacher and an elder. His greatest joy was to sing and play his guitar in a gospel group (The Fellowship).

Herbert was preceded in death by his wife, Jessica; son, James; his mother and father; and several siblings.

Family and friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Corner House Christian Church, 6954 Chestnut Ridge Road, Hubbard.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2026, at the church, officiated by Pastor David Coxson.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Benevolent Fund at Corner House Christian Church in memory of Herbert.
