Geraldine L. Pontuti 1937-2026

COLUMBIANA — Geraldine Lee “Judy” Pontuti, 88, passed away peacefully June 9, 2026, surrounded by her loving family, at home.

She was born Aug. 22, 1937, in Wheatland, Pa., a daughter of the late Glen William and Rose Campman Darlington.

She graduated from Farrell High School in 1956 and went to work at National Castings. She then worked for South Side Merchants, the BMV, before working for Clemente Ambulance until her retirement in 2008, after 18 years.

If there was one thing that defined Judy’s life, it was her love for her family. She gave of herself freely and without hesitation, always putting others before herself. She was generous in every sense of the word, never seeking recognition and never making things about her. Her kindness was evident in the way she treated people, and those who knew her would be hard-pressed to remember a time she ever spoke an unkind word about anyone.

Judy enjoyed the things that brought beauty and joy to everyday life. She loved working on ceramics, caring for flowers, and taking the occasional bus trip to the casino. She especially cherished family dinners, where everyone could gather together, share stories, and enjoy one another’s company.

Her favorite role, however, was being “Deenie” to her grandchildren. They were the center of her world, and nothing made her happier than having them nearby. Her eyes would light up whenever they walked into the room, and the love she had for them was unmistakable. Through her gentle heart, quiet strength and unwavering devotion to her family, Judy leaves behind countless memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Judy leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughters, Lisa (Ken) Pontuti-DiGiacomo and Lori (Tony) Mangiarelli; her beloved grandchildren, Stephen Bott, and AJ, Danny and Brooke Mangiarelli; special friends, Judy Bodner and Bernie Zappa, who are second generation best friends, who checked in with each other regularly; and her canine companion, Cocoa.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Janet Pontuti; brother, Thomas Darlington; and sister, Rosemarie Watson.

Friends and family will be received from 11 to 11:45 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, followed immediately by a memorial service beginning at noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that material contributions be made to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to Akeso Home Care and Hospice, 6600 Summit Drive, Canfield, OH 44406.
