Gary R. Hartman 1958-2026

Born May 15, 1958, in Youngstown, a son of the late Jerald and Lucille Becker Hartman, Gary was a devoted husband, father, brother and friend.

Gary graduated from Canfield High School and devoted much of his life to his work as an assembler at General Motors. He cherished the simple pleasures that brought joy to his everyday existence, including hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycles. His love for playing pool was matched only by his affection for his beloved dogs, especially his loyal companion, Max, and his granddog, Lucy.

Family was central to Gary’s life. He is survived by his loving wife, whom he married Oct. 23, 1987, Laura J. Parrish Hartman; daughter, Jennifer (Ben) Heflick of Youngstown; son, Gary (Shastedy) Hartman of Canfield; his granddaughter, Elliana Hartman; and brother, Kenny (Carol) Hartman of Raleigh, North Carolina. Gary’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.

A funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel. Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
