Frank P. Carchedi 1940-2026
FAIRBORN — The Carchedi and Leardi families sadly announce Frank P. Carchedi, 85, passed away Friday, June 5, 2026.
He was born July 12, 1940, in Lowellville, the son of the late Joseph and Irma Leardi Carchedi.
Frank graduated from Lowellville High School in 1958, then received a B.E. degree from Youngstown State University in 1964 and a master’s degree from the University of Dayton in 1976.
Frank started his career at WPAFB in June 1964. He held a variety of positions, retiring in January 1995.
Throughout his career he received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Civilian Career Service Award.
Frank was an active member of Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church since June 1964. He was heavily involved in the annual parish festival and volunteered in the church renovation and building of the FYI facility in the parish center.
He had been a member of the pastoral council since 2018. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus since 1970, having achieved the position of Grand Knight twice. He was also a past faithful navigator and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem and a longtime member of the Order of the Sons of Italy in America.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 59 years, Janet.
He is survived by two sons, Frank (Michelle) Carchedi Jr. and Joseph (America) Carchedi; two grandsons, Thomas Carchedi and Nicholas Carchedi; granddaughter, Michelle Carchedi; brother, Vito Carchedi; and two sisters, Carmela McCaughtry and Bella Panici.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, June 12, 2026, at the Mary, Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fairborn, with Father Jason Beetle as celebrant.
Frank was laid to rest in Byron Cemetery.
