Elizabeth J. Stephenson 1938-2026

AUSTINTOWN — Elizabeth J. Stephenson, 88, a beloved member of the Youngstown community, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Hospice House.

Born Sept. 22, 1938, in Campbell, Elizabeth was a lifelong resident of the area, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and dedication that touched many lives.

A proud graduate of Campbell High School, Elizabeth devoted much of her professional career to serving the public. She was a data entry specialist at Mahoning County Child Support and also worked at Hill’s Department Store. Beyond her professional achievements, she was known for her warmth, compassion and gentle spirit, qualities that defined her throughout her life.

Elizabeth’s commitment to her community extended well beyond her work. She was an active member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church and took pride in her involvement with its Altar and Rosary Society. Her generosity was further evident in her volunteer efforts at the St. Vincent de Paul food kitchen, where she selflessly gave her time to help those in need.

Her interests reflected her lively and social nature. She enjoyed participating in the YMCA of Boardman Silver Sneakers program, played in a 500-card club and enjoyed bowling activities that brought her joy and camaraderie.

Elizabeth was deeply cherished by her family and friends. She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne Conti, Shelley (Christian) Evans and Catherine Stephenson; her son, Edward Stephenson; her loving sister, Mary Ann Berroteran; grandchildren, Kayli (Jacob) Hall, Jeffrey Corfman, Alexa (Chris) Smaldino, Samantha, Dominic and Mia Conti, Brianna and Branden Stephenson, Billy and Cameron Lewis, and Tyler and Emily Evans; and great-grandchildren, Adaley, Ero and Aamon Hall, and Timmy and Louie Smaldino.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Jacisin Hudak; her husband, Edward L. Stephenson; her brothers, William and Joseph Hudak; and her sisters, Wilma Musser, Delores Seitz and Dorothy Del Greco.

Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home – Austintown Chapel, 4303 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, OH 44515, with a prayer service to follow at 10:30 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Blaise Parish-Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, OH 44515.

Private burial will follow Mass.

Elizabeth J. Stephenson’s life was marked by love, service and devotion to her family and community. She will be remembered fondly for her kind and caring nature, and her legacy will continue through the lives she touched so deeply. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of many, but her memory will forever be treasured.
