Elizabeth I. Foy 1937-2026
AUSTINTOWN — Elizabeth Irene Foy, 89, died Monday afternoon, June 15, 2026.
She was born March 14, 1937, in Washingtonville, a daughter of Joseph and Violante Ballard Silvashy, and had been a lifelong area resident.
Elizabeth was a member of Simon Road Church of God, where she had been a member of the Christian Women’s Group and enjoyed baking kolachi.
She was a 1955 graduate of Hubbard High School and had worked for Ohio Bell, the Skylark Restaurant in Canfield and for Fish Dry Cleaners. She had also been a Girl Scout leader and a 4-H adviser.
Her husband, George Foy, whom she married Feb. 19, 1977, died Nov. 4, 1998.
She leaves three children, Cynthia (Edward) Murphy, Paul (Amanda) Griffin and Sharlene (Richard) Piper; a brother, Harry (Cookie) Clay; a daughter-in-law, Maria Griffin; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and her husband, Elizabeth was preceded in death by a daughter, Catherine Abbey; a son, Eric Griffin; a great-granddaughter, Skyle Griffin; her brothers, Edward Clay, George Clay, Norman Clay and Vernon Clay; and a sister, Betty Coy.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at the Lane Funeral Home in Austintown.
Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
