Dorothy L. Casey 1940-2026

She was born May 24, 1940, in Niles, the daughter of the late Edward James Casey and Helen Dorothy (Hardt) Casey.

After high school, she served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1961 to 1964. Dorothy then went to work for the U.S. Postal Service as a postal clerk in San Francisco for 30 years from 1964 to 1994. She moved to Lake Milton in 1995 and was a member of St. Catherine Church and St. James Catholic Church.

She also was a life member of Newton Falls AMVETS Post 112. Dorothy loved reading, walking and many sports, especially the San Francisco Giants, San Francisco 49ers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish football, the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Helen Casey; two brothers, Theodore and Terry Casey; and one sister, Patricia Butler.

Dorothy is survived by her two nephews, Jim and Michele Butler of Lake Milton and Todd and Dawnielle Sunshine Butler of Lake Milton.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at St. Stephen Cemetery in Niles, with Pastor Nathan Bacorn officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest with full military honors performed by the Newton Falls Veterans Honor Guard.
