David R. Piper 1952-2026
SALEM – David R. Piper, 73, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2026.
He was born July 30, 1952, in Youngstown, a son of Raymond and Lucy Mayorga Piper, and had been a lifelong area resident.
David was a graduate of North High School and had received his bachelor’s degree in applied science from Youngstown State University.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps as an aircraft mechanic from 1972 to 1976.
He worked for many years at General Motors in Lordstown before his retirement.
He especially enjoyed watching his grandchildren drag race and enjoyed spending time with his beloved border collie, Panda.
Left to cherish his memory are his two daughters, Nicole (Robert Hughes) Piper and Sara Piper; his grandsons, Kyle and Parker Hughes; and two nephews, Richard (Sharlene) Piper and Raymond Piper.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Paul Piper.
A memorial service for David will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown, OH 44515.
