HUBBARD — David D. Washington, age 80, of Hubbard, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.
David was born April 5, 1946, in Youngstown, a son of Frank Dale and Margarite Halliday Washington.
He was a 1964 graduate of Hubbard High School, received his bachelor’s degree from Capital University and later his master’s degree in history.
For over 25 years, David was a teacher and a coach for the Mathews Local School District, retiring in 1998.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Hubbard.
David enjoyed golf, traveling and spending time with his grandchildren.
His wife, the former Kathleen Jane Berndt, whom he married Aug. 19, 1967, passed away May 31, 2016.
He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family: his son, Michael Todd Washington (Christine Kondratick) of Iowa City, Iowa; his daughter, Amy Arceneaux of Hubbard; and three grandchildren, Haley Arceneaux, Kathleen Washington and Joshua Arceneaux. He also leaves his sister, Marilynne Landis; his niece, Tish (Brian) Cooper and their children, Logan and Laken, all of Enon Valley, Pa.
Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; infant twin sisters; and son-in-law, Frederick Arceneaux.
A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, 2026, with calling hours prior to the service, from 4 to 6 p.m., at Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family to offset funeral expenses.
