William Mistovich 1950-2026
WILMINGTON, N.C. — William “Bill” Mistovich, 76, passed away peacefully Monday, May 18, 2026, surrounded by family.
Bill’s life was marked by hard work and devotion to his family. He was born April 28, 1950, in Youngstown and was raised in the suburb of Campbell. He was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and went on to build a strong work ethic and lifelong career in the skilled trades.
A pipefitter by trade, Bill worked at Youngstown Sheet and Tube and General Motors, where he later served as apprentice chairman for UAW Local 1112. In addition to his industrial work, Bill also owned and operated his own plumbing business.
He belonged to St. Mark Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Throughout his work and life, he built many lasting friendships.
Bill enjoyed fishing, tending to his rose bushes, working puzzles, reading, and spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren, who brought him great joy. He was known for his long stories, humor and never being at a loss for words. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Joyce (Perry) Mistovich; children, Melissa (Jeff) Schreiber, Julie (Michael) Dixon, James (Colleen) Mistovich and Stephanie Heckman; grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, Elizabeth, Jessica, Caroline, George and Noah; and siblings, Leona Rose, Kathy Vadjunec, Walter Mistovich and Karen Mistovich.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael Sr. and Helen Repasky Mistovich; brother, Michael Mistovich Jr.; and grandchildren William, James and Matthew Heckman.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Novant Health and Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for their exceptional care, compassion and support during Bill’s final days.
Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, at St. Mary Magdalene Parish-St. Christine Church.
Inurnment will take place in North Carolina at a later date, with a memorial service to be announced.
