William J. McCliment IV 1984-2026

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. — William James McCliment IV, formerly of Girard, left this life too soon Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Bill was welcomed into the world by his parents, William James McCliment III and JoAnne Kara Clobus, on Jan. 28, 1984. He grew up on Mohican Drive, a lively Squaw Creek neighborhood where he was surrounded by friends and classmates, spending their days playing with Ninja Turtles and Atari, riding bikes and trading Goosebumps books.

Bill attended Girard Schools, where he ran on the cross-country team, an experience that turned into a lifelong passion. Throughout his life, he ran in road races, marathons and triathlons, including the Walt Disney World back-to-back marathon and half-marathon, accompanied by his good friend, Mitch Moody. Bill ran or walked for fitness nearly every day of his life.

A diehard Seminole fan, Bill graduated from Florida State University and decided to make Florida his home. After college, he joined the Under Armour company in its early days, a product he strongly believed in, and sported the brand all his life.

Bill’s career in logistics began with long-haul trucking and advanced into the railroad industry. Most recently, he achieved a long-standing goal, passing the rigorous training program with flying colors to earn a position as a railroad conductor — his ‘dream job’ — with Norfolk Southern Railroad in Jacksonville, Florida.

Bill was an avid reader; endurance sports, motivational health and fitness were among his favorite genres. He loved all sports, but he lived for college football season when every year he cheered on his beloved Seminoles. His collection of FSU Seminole logo wear was impressive. Bill was also a loyal supporter of the Cleveland Browns, Cavaliers and Guardians.

Michael Jordan was his childhood hero, and in adulthood, he became a devoted fan of LeBron James and Tiger Woods. Bill idolized runner Steve Prefontaine for his strength and perseverance in the face of adversity.

Bill will be remembered lovingly for his broad smile and signature greeting, “Hey, how’s it going?” as well as his quick wit and generosity.

Along with his parents, William and Lisa McCliment of Columbia, South Carolina, and JoAnne and Gary Clobus of Mercer, Pa., loved ones left behind to cherish his memory are his brother, Jonathan Adam McCliment (Kate) of Columbus; his niece, Olive Nova McCliment; his aunts, uncles and cousins; and a stepbrother and stepsisters.

The family warmly invites all to join in a celebration of Bill’s life June 27 at Liberty Park in Girard, featuring an array of his favorite foods. The celebration will begin at 1 p.m. with Bill’s aunt, Naomi McMillan of Scottsdale, Arizona, eulogizing him with love and levity. Guests are encouraged to wear teamwear in honor of Bill’s passion for sports. Please, no somber black attire; Steelers wear is acceptable.

Memorials in Bill’s name may be made to one of his favorite projects, Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, at www.railstotrails.org.
