Vida M. Crump 1934-2026

LIBERTY — Vida M. Crump, 92, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, in the comfort of her residence, Shepherd of the Valley-Liberty.

Born April 19, 1934, in Youngstown, she was the daughter of Anthony Martin and Mary DeSalvo Martin. Vida was a 1950 graduate of South High School in Youngstown.

Proceeding high school, Vida married her high school sweetheart, Billy G. Crump. They had five children and shared 71 years of adventures together until his passing June 6, 2021.

Vida was a woman of many talents and passions. She spent 37 years as an educator at Chaney High School as a Spanish teacher, shaping the lives of countless students. She was a legend! One former student created a Facebook page named “I survived Vida Crump,” which took off like wildfire. Following her retirement, she continued as a substitute teacher and tutor in multiple area high schools in the Mahoning Valley.

Vida’s love for the fine arts was apparent to all who knew her. She enjoyed theaters, attending plays and musicals. She also performed with the Niles Senior Scope Choir in their many concert appearances around the Valley. She was an avid roller skater, loved dancing of all sorts and traveling with her husband. Most of all, Vida loved spending time with her family. She set the bar high for herself, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, which shows through everyone’s accomplishments and successes. She is very proud of them all!

Vida is survived by her brother, Hermen Martin of Atlanta, Georgia; her daughter, Gloria (Harvey) Schiller of Liberty; and her sons, Raymond Crump of Canton, Edward (Sharon) Crump of Boardman and Robert (Renee) Crump of Mineral Ridge. She will also be deeply missed by her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who proudly call her “Mamacita” and grandma!

She was preceded in death by her son, William Anthony Crump; and her husband, Billy G. Crump.

Vida was a parishioner of St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish-Blessed Sacrament Church.

Calling hours will be 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.

A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at Blessed Sacrament Roman Catholic Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, OH 44483.

Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
