HUBBARD — Robert T. Larson, 92, died Saturday morning, May 23, 2026, at his home.

He was born Oct. 3, 1933, at home in Newton Falls, a son of Harold and Jacquline Emmitt Helligso and raised by his stepfather, Wayne Larson.

Mr. Larson was a 1951 graduate of Tillamook High School in Tillamook, Oregon, and served from 1953 to 1955 with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He also graduated from Youngstown University with a bachelor’s degree in business.

Robert was an insurance agent with Prudential Insurance Company and formerly worked for Livingston’s Tire Shop in Hubbard. He was a member of American Legion Post 51 in Hubbard; the Hubbard Historical Society; the Western Reserve Colony Society of Mayflower Descendants of Ohio; and the Peter Brown Society.

Robert was an avid reader. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, history and going to his camp. He was a great storyteller.

His wife, the former Phyllis J. Hetrick, whom he married June 11, 1953, died Dec. 31, 2013.

He leaves a son, Mark C. (Carol) Larson of Pittsburgh, Pa.; two daughters, R. Sam (Jim Dearing) Larson of East Lansing, Michigan, and Phyllis “Fifi” (Robert) Hahn of Hubbard; four grandchildren, Amanda “Gus” (Dale Rhoads) Beebe, Robert C. D. Johnson, Spike (Emily McKeever) Dearing and Joey Dearing; and a great-grandson, Eric Johnson. He also leaves his good friend, Jack Colucci.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Phyllis; and a son, Robert P. Larson.

Family and friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2026, and 9:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2026, with funeral services at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home, where Rick Williams will be officiating.

Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery.
