Robert A. Dombroski 1931-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Robert A. “Bob” Dombroski, 94, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Bob was born June 21, 1931, in Youngstown, a son of the late Alexander and Ida Zawistowski Dombroski.
He attended Rayen High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Marine Corps for two years.
After returning home, he worked for 35 years at Wean United, formerly United Engineering, where he met the love of his life, Dorothy “Dotty” Allen, and the two were married Dec. 8, 1956, in Hancock, Indiana. Together, they shared 55 years of marriage and built a life centered around family, laughter and simple joys.
Bob was a true tinkerer and perfectionist — someone who always needed to be building, fixing, improving or creating something with his hands. He had an inventive mind and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, whether he was building his own street roadster from scratch, making leather seats for high-wheel bicycles or coming up with creative projects around the house and garage.
Music was one of the great joys of his life. Entirely self-taught by ear, Bob played the harmonica, guitar, banjo and ukulele, and enjoyed sharing that love of music with others through the Steel Valley Harmonica Club and a local barbershop quartet. He was also an active member of the Wheelmen, proudly riding his high-wheeled bicycle in many local parades over the years.
Bob enjoyed puzzles, card games, chess club gatherings, antique cars and cheering on the Cavaliers. His family fondly remembered how he would put his initials on completed puzzle boxes and joked that his daily bowl of Mother’s Oats cereal may have been the secret to his long life. More than anything, though, he treasured the time he spent with his family, especially his daughters.
Bob leaves behind his two daughters, Diane Seydlorsky (John Seemann) of Canfield and Lori Pridgeon of Whiteford, Maryland; grandchildren, Kevin (Kara) Seydlorsky, Ryan (Jessica) Seydlorsky and Shelby Pridgeon; and two great-grandchildren, Braiden Bulkley and Riley Seydlorsky.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dotty; his son-in-law, Ray Pridgeon; and his seven siblings, Alice Stanka, Josephine Porembski, Chester Dombroski, Jean Rudzinski, Vera Dombroski, Dorothy Gwatkin and Phyllis Maiorana.
Friends and family will be received 11 to 11:45 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman, followed immediately by a funeral service beginning at noon.
He will be laid to rest with his wife in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests material contributions be made to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Youngstown, OH 44514, in his memory.
