Richard G. Gresley 1969-2026
GIRARD — Richard George “Rich” Gresley, 56, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday, May 5, 2026, after a battle with cancer.
A friend once described Rich as a man who never looked down on anyone but instead encouraged, cared and showed true concern for those around him. Rich was a man of integrity — selfless, honorable and admirable, doing everything with intention and for other people. He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, papa and friend. His presence and contagious smile will be deeply missed.
He was born May 20, 1969, in York, Pa., and raised in Liberty by George and Sheryl Barto Gresley.
Rich graduated from Liberty High School in 1987, went on to marry Jacquie Cervone on Sept. 23, 1995, and had two daughters.
He proudly owned Environmental Protection Systems, an environmental company that has served the community for 25 years.
Rich had many passions — classic cars, off-road vehicles, his 30-acre property and random dance parties in the garage with his girls. Rich lived a full life surrounded by love, dedicating his life to his family. Anyone who knew him knew that his granddaughter, Daisy Mae, was the light of his life, showing her off at every opportunity he got.
Rich spent many evenings with a cold beer, mowing the lawn and perfecting his stripes.
Enjoy a cold one for the best man we ever knew.
Rich was preceded in death by his grandparents; his father, George Gresley; his father-in-law, Tony Cervone; his nephew, Lucas Cervone; and his uncle, Lonnie Jo Gresley.
Rich is survived by his loving wife of over 30 years, Jacquie Cervone Gresley; his daughters, Vanessa (Dylan) Brown and Rylee Gresley; his granddaughter, Daisy Mae Brown; his mother, Sheryl Babe Barto Gresley; his sister, Sunshine (Todd) Butler; his nephews, Robbie and Tanner Butler; his mothers-in-law, Charlotte Cervone and Ida Donald; his brother-in-law, Anthony Cervone; his sister-in-law, Shawnee (Chris) Fredrick; his nephews, Andrew and Brody Fredrick; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins and several friends and extended family members.
A celebration of Rich’s life will take place 6 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at The Village Banquet Centre, 1057 Illinois Ave., McDonald, OH 44437. The family invites all who knew him to attend and honor this remarkable man.
The family requests that any donations be made to Operation North Pole or Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley Hospice House by Compassus.
The family would also like to extend their deep thanks to Dr. David Drevna and Dr. Joseph Miladore, along with the staff at both the Hope Center for Cancer Care and Hospice House, for the compassion and care given to Rich during his time with them.
