Marilyn R. Dugan 1933-2026

YOUNGSTOWN — Marilyn Ruth Dugan, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital.

She was born March 7, 1933, in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Allen J. and Rosetta Jones Ansell.

She worked as a stenographer at General Fireproofing and was employed at Red Barn and Hills (later Ames), retiring as a Walmart greeter at age 80.

She was a woman of quiet strength — stronger than most, yet gentle in the way she carried it. She faced life head-on and never wavered, not just providing for her family but also creating a steady, loving foundation they could always rely on. She had a natural way of keeping things in order, making sure everyone around her was cared for, often thinking of others before herself.

Her kindness was felt in the thoughtful details. She never missed a birthday, faithfully sending cards and reaching out to her family and church friends. She found joy in life’s simple routines — working on crossword puzzles, watching her favorite Hallmark and Lifetime movies, and eating her favorite, pizza with mushrooms and sausage — and had an inquisitive spirit that kept her engaged with the world around her.

Above all, her family meant everything to her. She loved them deeply, and that love was returned in full. Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, nurtured through her connection to Yellow Creek Church and reflected in the warmth and compassion she showed to others. She will be remembered for her strength, her steady presence and the genuine care she gave so freely.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her sons, Christopher, Matthew and Eric Dugan; and her nieces, Ruth Wolz and Dorothy Jones.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her stepmother, Gwendolyn Ansell; her siblings, Dorothy Wolz and Allen Ansell; her uncle and aunt, Joseph and Louise Beck; and a niece, Marianne Stein.

Private services were held for Marilyn. She was laid to rest with her parents in Lake Park Cemetery.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers. Visit www.beckerobits.com to send the family condolences and share your memories.
