John M. Kozak 1942-2026

Together again

YOUNGSTOWN – John M. “Jack” Kozak, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Hospice House in Poland.

John was born May 2, 1942, in Youngstown, a son of Michael and Mary Swantek Kozak.

He was a 1957 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School and earned his bachelor’s degree in engineering from Youngstown State University.

John married the love of his life, the former Marie Frazzini, on Aug. 24, 1963; they shared 58 years of marriage until her passing on March 12, 2022.

John grew up in the Youngstown area, then moved to York, Pa., for work in the 1970s. John returned to this area in the early 1980s.

He worked for Automatic Sprinklers Inc. in York, Pa., as vice president. He was the owner of Knolls Paint Center in Youngstown and co-owner of Jated Distributors, also in Youngstown.

John was of the Catholic faith and was a parishioner of St. Angela Merici Parish.

John enjoyed playing cards with his family, especially poker, and he also enjoyed trips to the casino. John was a car enthusiast and enjoyed swinging on the front porch at sunset. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.

John will be deeply missed and always remembered by his two daughters, Susan (John) Carney of Canfield and Nancy Reali of Poland; three grandchildren, Ceara (Fady) Baky, Francesca Carney and Shiann (Kevin) Markiewicz; two great-grandchildren, Elliot Baky and Anderson Markiewicz; brothers, Alan (Lydia) Kozak and William (Karen) Kozak; and sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Biasella and Victoria (Anthony) Gutierrez.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and by his son, Jack.

The Kozak family has entrusted John’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell.

A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at St. Angela Merici Parish.

John will be laid to rest in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
