John F. Cerny Jr. 1951-2026
JEROMESVILLE — John F. Cerny Jr., 75, passed away of natural causes at his home on Monday, April 13, 2026.
John was born March 4, 1951, in Youngstown, to the late John and Louise Montella Cerny.
He was a 1969 graduate of Cardinal Mooney High School and earned a degree in landscape architecture at The Ohio State University.
John was an avid reader and enjoyed following the Cleveland Browns, Guardians and Ohio State football. He also was a lover of the outdoors and gardening at his rural home outside of Wooster.
He was devoted to his family and his wife, Terry, and lovingly cared for her until her passing in 2024.
John will be deeply missed by his son, Ben (Jennifer) of Simsbury, Connecticut; his three grandchildren, Avery, Case and Campbell; his sisters, Stephanie (Bob) Bishop of Poland, Joyce (John) Clarke of Fremont, Lynda Hirakami of Pahoa, Hawaii, Patti (Doug) Cushard of Mineral Ridge and Adele (Tim DeSilva) Cerny of Hilo, Hawaii; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Cynthia Cerny, and brother-in-law, Steve Hirakami.
There are no services scheduled at this time. A celebration of life will take place at a later date.
