John Blosco Jr. 1926-2026
EAST PALESTINE — John Blosco Jr., 100, a lifelong resident of East Palestine, passed away Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic Fairview Hospital.
John was born Jan. 6, 1926, in East Palestine, son of the late John Blosco Sr. and Irene Kovalchuk Blosco.
He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army, having served as a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division during World War II.
He, along with his brother Peter, owned and operated Blosco Iron and Steel in East Palestine prior to his retirement.
John is survived by his son, John (Pamela) Blosco of Toronto; a daughter, Susan (Raymond) Galvin of Fairview Park; four grandchildren, John, Michael and Matthew Blosco and Erin Lagasca; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 74 years, Lucille Dupey Blosco, in 2021; a brother, Peter Blosco; and a sister, Ann Smotrilla.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, at Nativity of Christ Orthodox Church, 727 Miller St., Youngstown, with Father Michael Lillie officiating.
The family will receive friends 9:30 to 11 a.m., Friday at the church.
A burial with military honors will follow in Poland Riverside Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the outstanding caregivers at Ennis Court in Lakewood for the kindness and compassion they provided to John.
Memorial contributions can be made, in lieu of flowers, in John’s name to Nativity of Christ Orthodox Church.
