Joan Bregar 1932-2026
NORTH LIMA — Joan Bregar, 94, passed away early Saturday morning, May 16, 2026, at St. Mary’s Alzheimer’s Center in North Lima.
Joan was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Youngstown, a daughter of Gordon and Elsie Maddocks Smith.
She married Donald “Gene” Bregar on Aug. 28, 1948, and was a member of Mount Olivet United Church of Christ.
Joan worked as a teacher’s aide in the South Range school system as well as a cashier at Swope’s Valu King.
Joan was part of the Beaver Township Fire Department Auxiliary as well as the Western Square Dancers.
She enjoyed participating in the annual rummage sale at Mount Olivet United Church of Christ and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her two daughters, Linda Toy of Canfield and Diann White-Soltis and her husband Terry of North Lima; daughter-in-law, Gerri Bregar of Lisbon; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother, David (Beth) Dickey of Michigan.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene, who passed away May 18, 2014, after celebrating 65 years of marriage; son, Larry Bregar; grandchild, Howard Bieber; brother, Robert Dickey; and sons-in-law, Glenn White and Eugene Toy.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Mount Olivet UCC, 410 W. South Range Road, North Lima, with pastor Tim Paroz officiating.
The family will receive friends 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Joan’s memory to Mount Olivet United Church of Christ.
