Jay E. Miller 1946-2026

LOWELLVILLE – Jay E. Miller, 79 passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, May 3, 2026, at the Cleveland Clinic.

Jay was born July 27, 1946, in Youngstown, a son of Willard E. “Buck” and Margaret J. Sudimak Miller.

He was a 1964 graduate of North High School and was a lifelong resident of the Youngstown area.

Jay owned and operated Miller’s Landscaping Inc. and Miller & Miller Management Inc. He had previously worked as a machinist and union steward at Westinghouse until their closing.

He was of the Christian faith.

Jay had been an Eagle Scout and lifeguard. He enjoyed hunting, horses, dogs, running his equipment, working and especially his vacations to Florida.

Jay will be deeply missed and always remembered by his life companion, Sherry Syphard of Pulaski, Pa.; his son, Mark (Pauline) Miller of Hubbard; his daughter, Beth (Michael) Miller-Gordon of Hubbard; Sherry’s son, Jason Syphard; grandchildren, Kazandra, Wyatt and Rhaquel Miller, Kayla William, Jared Miller, Mariah (Zachary) Denney, Tyler Miller-Gordon and Aleesha Miller-Gordon; great-grandchildren, Demiana William and Sloane Denney; and two sisters, Joyce (Bruce) Wiggins of Columbiana and Phyllis Johnson of Coitsville.

He will also be deeply missed by many extended family members, friends, neighbors, customers and loved ones.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie Estok.

The Miller family has entrusted Jay’s care to the Wasko Funeral Home in Campbell, where calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2026, followed by a memorial service at 7 p.m., officiated by Deacon John Bartos.
