Janet E. Prindle 1959-2026
CANFIELD — Janet Elizabeth Prindle, 66, entered eternal rest in Jesus surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, May 7, 2026.
Janet was born Dec. 19,1959, in Youngstown, to John and Jane Ball. She was the third of seven children and spent her childhood in the Buckeye Circle neighborhood before moving to Canfield in the 1970s.
Janet graduated from Canfield High School. Like her mother and sisters, Janet entered the medical field. Her work ethic and compassion for patients were recognized, and before she left, she became coordinator for cardiopulmonary rehab at Warren General Hospital. After leaving medicine, Janet went to Youngstown State University, where she obtained a degree in education. She then worked at Columbiana Village Exempted High School for nearly 15 years as a teacher in special education. Once again Janet was recognized for her patience, compassion and advocacy of her students and became a pillar of the community there.
In 2022, Janet had to step away from teaching due to her cancer diagnosis. She fought bravely for four years. During these years Janet was in and out of the hospital frequently and there were many trials and setbacks, but through it all she remained positive, strong and an encouragement to all who knew her.
As was evident to all, Janet was a person of deep faith, great compassion and love for her family and others. She was a member of Canfield Presbyterian Church and a devoted wife, mother, sister, friend and grandmother. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter.
Janet is survived by her husband of 33 years, Lex Jr.; and her two children, Lex (Johnna Mae) and Madison (Jake); as well as her “beautiful baby” granddaughter, Veritie Grace. She leaves behind her siblings, Linda (Barry) Morgan of Canfield, John (Debbie) Ball of Boardman, Mary Ball of Austintown, Randy (Lori) Ball of East Palestine, Richard (Meghan) Ball of North Lima and sister-in-law, Karen Ball of Columbiana; her many nieces and nephews, Sarah (Pat) Scenna, Allison (Mike) Herman, Ginny (Jordan) Hardwick, Katie Costantini, Ashley (Claire) Cheung, Thomas Crump, Randy Ball Jr., Brooke Twenty, Morgan (Ethan) Nezbeth, Hannah Ball, Schaelee and Sela Guy, Bronwen, Jack and Rhiannon Ball, Ian and Wyatt (Jimena) Prindle; and great-nieces and -nephews, Barry and Kellen Pitzer, Samuel Scenna, Dane and Morgan Herman, Skylar Twenty, Colton and Mackenzie Hardwick and Elliana Nezbeth. She also leaves her mother-in-law, Anna Mae; sister-in-law, Stacey Prindle; and brother-in-law, Joe Prindle (Annette).
Besides her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her brother, James Ball, and father-in-law, Lex Prindle Sr.
Family and friends may call noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2026, at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman. There will be a funeral service to follow celebrating Janet’s life at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with Reverend Larry Bowald officiating. Interment will follow in Firestone Cemetery in Columbiana.
