Donna Koziorynsky 1933-2026
BOARDMAN — Donna DeRose Koziorynsky passed away peacefully after a brief illness on the morning of Friday, May 8, 2026, at Hospice House. She was 92 years old.
Born on Sunday, July 30, 1933, in Youngstown, Donna’s life was marked by a deep love for the outdoors and her cherished animals, which brought her joy and comfort throughout her years.
Donna was well known in the community for owning and operating Jerry K’s Greenhouse on South Avenue alongside her husband for 30 dedicated years. Her commitment to her family and her business showcased the strength and kindness she carried throughout her life. As a devoted member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Luke Church, she found spiritual solace and fellowship, which remained an important part of her identity.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Frank and Florence Panning DeRose Sr.; her dear husband, Jerry M. Koziorynsky, whom she married on March 3, 1951, and who passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2006; her son, Jerry M. Koziorynsky Jr.; as well as her sister, Julia Cene and brother-in-law, Bert Cene.
Donna is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her daughter, Debbie Hlebak of Boardman; her brother, Louis DeRose of Warren; and her sister-in-law, Darlene Koziorynsky of Struthers. She also leaves behind a treasured legacy through her four grandchildren, James (Megan) Hlebak of North Lima, Crea (Adam) Scalzo of Dublin, Jerry F. Koziorynsky Jr. of Youngstown and Matthew (Alexis) Koziorynsky of Columbiana.
Her great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and happiness to her, include Gracyn and Clara Hlebak of North Lima, Lincoln and Solette Scalzo of Dublin, and Izabella and Zander Koziorynsky of Columbiana. In addition, Donna’s memory is honored by many nieces and nephews who held her in great affection, and her ex-son-in-law, James Hlebak.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate Donna’s life will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish-St. Luke Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman.
Family, friends and members of the community are welcomed to gather in remembrance of a life richly lived and a woman profoundly loved.
Throughout her life and now in her passing, Donna Koziorynsky’s spirit of kindness, dedication, and warmth endures in all who knew her.
Her family has requested that contributions be made to St. Luke Church in her memory, as a tribute to her faith and the community she cherished.
Donna leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and compassion, that will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have shared in her life. She will be remembered with the utmost respect and affection by all whose lives she touched.
