Alphonso L. Sabino 1954-2026

He was born Dec. 12, 1954, in Girard, a son of Alphonso and Theresa Banyots Sabino.

Al was a 1972 graduate of Girard High School, and he worked for the former Indalex Aluminum Solutions in Girard for 34 years prior to retiring in 2008.

He married the former Kathleen J. Hawkins on Sept. 22, 2004. Together they shared 21 years of marriage and many happy memories. She survives him.

Al enjoyed horse racing and gambling, and he loved to travel with his wife. He was a loving, devoted husband, brother, brother-in-law and friend who will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Besides his wife, Al is survived by two brothers, Louis (Peggy) Sabino of Kentucky and Jim (Gayle) Sabino of North Carolina; a sister, Cindy Potesta of North Carolina; his mother and father-in-law, Merle and Myrna Hawkins of Lordstown; two sisters-in-law, Susan (Sonny) Hawkins of Ellsworth Township and Debbie (Randy) Manley of Howland; and a brother-in-law, Lee (Polly) Hawkins of Berlin Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by two stepsons, Robert Lee Allen and Christopher Michael Allen.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, May 21, at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave.

Friends may call 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
