Ada Mae Anglin 1936-2026

NEW MIDDLETOWN — Ada Mae Anglin, 89, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2026.

Ava was born Nov. 29, 1936, in Brownton, W.Va. She attended a one-room schoolhouse in Bear Mountain and then Philippi High School, also in West Virginia. She met and married her husband, Robert H., in 1955, and he passed in 2007.

Ava was one of eight children, six of whom were deceased, Virginia Shaffer, Robert Pyle, Marvin Pyle, Loretta Trader, Virgil Pyle and Augustine Gray. She is survived by her brother, Elmer (Debbie) Pyle.

Ava raised her family in Youngstown and was a stay-at-home mother until the mid-1960s, when she decided she wanted to work and learn to drive. Her waitress career began at The Dog House on Belmont Avenue and then Friendly’s Ice Cream in Boardman, where she started as a waitress and ended her career as a supervisor. Ada loved her customers and their stories and her co-workers. In 1969, Ada and Bob moved their family to New Middletown, where she remained until June 2025.

Ada was a woman of unbreakable iron, a proud woman with high standards who did not believe in shortcuts or excuses. She demanded respect, integrity and effort. Her expectations were rooted in a fierce, protective love to ensure her children and grandchildren were prepared for whatever their future held. Her greatest pride was most evident in her six children, all of whom grew into successful adults.

She was never a woman to sit. She loved traveling the United States by car to visit out-of-state family or attend family reunions. Casinos and shopping were high on her list, along with anything Elvis. Family dinners, gift buying and cooking Christmas and Easter meals, surrounded by family, were her most special memories.

Left to cherish Ada’s memory are her only daughter, Bobbie (Dr. Adrian) D’Amato; four sons, Gary (Joy) Anglin, Harold (Dana) Anglin, Jeffrey (Brenda) Anglin and James (Dee) Anglin; nine grandchildren, Dr. Andria D’Amato, Joseph (Erin) D’Amato, Eric (Nikki) Anglin, Tamera (Bobby) Parro, Robert Anglin, Dustin Anglin, Joshua (Tara) Anglin, William James Anglin and Teresa Anglin; 12 great-grandchildren, Harper (Eric and Nikki) Anglin, Hailey (Dustin) Anglin, Kadence (Dustin) Anglin, Reagan (Dustin) Anglin, R.J. (Tamera) Parro, Ryan (Tamera) Parro, Macayla (Joshua) Anglin, Beckham (Joshua) Anglin, Greyson (William James) Anglin, Crew (Robert) Anglin, Emma Anglin and Karlee Anglin; and her neighbors, Marlene and Linda and Fran, who were special people.

Ada was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Anglin; her son, William Leon Anglin; her grandson, Jeffrey Leon Anglin; and her six siblings.

According to Ada Mae’s family, she was an amazing, wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who taught us work ethics and how to enjoy family. She was our rock and left her legacy to all who were blessed for having known and loved her.

Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to The Inn at Old Saybrook, Columbiana, and Ohio Living Hospice for the care and compassion shown to Ada.

Funeral services will take place 1 p.m. Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Clemente Funeral Home, New Middletown. Friends may call noon to 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
