Wade L. Young Jr. 1934-2026
NORTH LIMA — Wade L. Young Jr., 91, of North Lima, formerly of Canfield, passed away early Saturday morning, April 4, 2026, at Aventura at Assumption Village.
Wade was born Dec. 3, 1934, in Youngstown, a son of the late Wade L. Young Sr. and Joan Kechler Young. He was a lifelong area resident.
He graduated from Austintown Fitch High School in 1952.
A proud veteran, Wade served in the U.S. Army.
He was a talented athlete in both basketball and baseball during his youth and went on to play in the Pittsburgh Pirates minor league system. In recognition of his athletic achievements, he was inducted into the Austintown Fitch Hall of Fame in 2016.
Wade worked as a bookkeeper for Young and Associates Construction Company.
He was an avid sports fan who faithfully cheered for Cleveland’s professional teams. He also enjoyed harness racing and had a strong interest in numismatics.
Wade will be remembered for his friendly personality, love of conversation, and great sense of humor. He never met a stranger and was always ready with a joke. He also took great pride in caring for his flowers and maintaining his lawn.
He leaves his son, Wade (Carol) Young III of Twinsburg; his grandchildren, Andre Z. Young and Bethany C. Young; and his niece, Karen (Charles) Hill of Boardman.
In addition to his parents, Wade was preceded in death by his sister, Kay Kelly.
Friends may call from 10 until 10:45 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel, with military services to follow at 11.
