Robert Hamilton 1953-2026
CANFIELD — Robert L. Hamilton, 72, of Canfield, passed away Thursday afternoon, April 2, 2026, surrounded by his family, at the Cleveland Clinic.
“Rob” as he was affectionately known was born Oct 26, 1953, in Youngstown, a son of John and Patricia (Robinson) Hamilton.
He was a 1972 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School. Rob worked as a maintenance manager in the tool-and-die industry for 45 years for Bliss Manufacturing and most recently for Hynes Industries, retiring in 2021.
He married the former Rosemary A. Martin on Sept. 14, 1974. Together, they shared 51 years of marriage and many happy memories. She survives him.
Rob and his wife were members of the Zion Lutheran Church in Youngstown. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding his Harley. He enjoyed local and national sports and was a New England Patriots fan, and he loved taking vacations with his family and keeping up with his friends. His greatest joy was his family, especially spending time with his beloved granddaughters and supporting them in all of their activities. He was a kind, loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his wife, Rob is survived by a daughter, Shannon (Troy) Leavery, of Kent. He also leaves behind a sister, Jill (Pat) Bresnahan, of Boardman; two brothers, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Hamilton, of Austintown and Tim Hamilton (Israel Oliveras), of New York, New York; three granddaughters; Cassidy (Nick) Ryan, and Sydnie and Ashlyn Leavery; and his two beloved kitties, Mollie and Bella.
Rob was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Andrew Hamilton.
In keeping with the wishes of the family there will be no public funeral services or calling hours. Rob’s family will gather privately for a final farewell.
He will be laid to rest near his son and parents in the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Boardman.
Rob’s family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the SICU and staff at the Cleveland Clinic, as well as all of their family and friends, for the abundance of love, prayers, and support they’ve received throughout this difficult journey over the past several months.
Arrangements for Mr. Hamilton are being provided by the Lane Funeral Home Canfield Chapel, 65 N. Broad St., Canfield.
