Born in Youngstown, she is the daughter of Patrick Cunningham and Lillian Cannistra Cunningham and was a proud graduate of Ursuline High School. Patricia carried her warmth, creativity and generous spirit with her throughout her life.
She shared an extraordinary 68-year marriage with her beloved husband, George Alexander, a partnership built on love, laughter and unwavering devotion. Together they created a home filled with joy in Simsbury, Connecticut.

She was a proud and loving grandmother to Kevin Alexander (Zaida Losa), Jason (Shelly) Alexander, Lauren (Martelle) Quint, Allison Olivieri, Kelle (Justin) Hansen, Emily (Shawn) Burns and Natalie, Roman and Halle Alexander; and a cherished great-grandmother to Gabriella, Martelle and Hap Quint, and Harper and Hunter Burns. Her family was her greatest accomplishment and her deepest joy.
Patricia is survived by her sister, Edna Bernard, and brother-in-law, Robert Bernard, of Austintown; her brother-in-law, Thomas (“Nick”) Alexander of Youngstown; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
She was predeceased by her sisters-in-law, Vivian Alexander and Nancy Raymer, and her brother-in-law, Howard Raymer.
Patricia had a gift for making life beautiful in simple, meaningful ways. She loved to sew, crochet and craft, creating treasured keepsakes by hand. She delighted in making homemade cards, each one reflecting her personal touch and love. Her home was often filled with loud, eclectic music, a reflection of her vibrant spirit, sense of humor and openness.
She will always be remembered for her delicious brownies with frosting and her homemade bread and focaccia, treats that brought comfort and happiness to everyone who gathered around her table.
She will be deeply missed and forever remembered in the hearts of her family.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Skybrooke for their loving care for the last three months.
A private service is planned for early summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
