Luke R. Gaines 2005-2026

BOARDMAN — Luke Robert Gaines, 20, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.

He was born Nov. 15, 2005, in Youngstown, a son of Neil and Kelley Mulholland Gaines.

Luke was a 2024 graduate of Boardman High School and a lifelong Boardman resident. He will be remembered for his immeasurable kindness and compassionate nature, always placing the needs of others before his own. Luke’s gentle spirit and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. Above all, Luke cherished time spent with the people he loved, always bringing joy and laughter through his wit and sense of humor.

Luke had a deep appreciation for life’s simple joys. He was an avid golfer and fisherman, and he found great enjoyment in spending time outdoors. He also loved movies, often sharing that passion with family and friends. Above all, Luke cherished time spent with the people he loved. He had a strong and unwavering faith in Jesus Christ, finding strength in his relationship with Him.

He is survived by his mother, Kelley Mulholland Gaines; his father, Neil Gaines; his brother, Seth Gaines, and sister-in-law, Rachael Gaines; his grandmothers, his Nana, Nancy Mulholland, Carol Gaines, Elizabeth Herman and Kathy Sunseri; his grandfather, Ed Sunseri; his aunt, Katie Mulholland Corbett (Bill); his aunt, Shannon Mulholland Wiltz (Uli); his uncle, Robert Mulholland (Laurie); his uncle, Mark Gaines (Rhonda); and his uncle, David Gaines (Mary). Luke was additionally survived by a multitude of loving cousins and extended family.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Charles Gaines and Robert Mulholland; and uncle, Joe Gaines.

Luke’s life, though far too short, was filled with love, kindness and quiet generosity. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. We take comfort in knowing he is now in the presence of his Savior, whom he loved so dearly.

Friends may call 3 to 4:45 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2026, at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman, with a funeral service beginning at 5 p.m.
