James Budd 1953-2026

HUBBARD — James “Jim” Budd, 72, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at his residence.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1953, to Andrew Sr. and Elizabeth Budd, and was a lifelong resident of Hubbard.

Jim graduated from Hubbard High School in 1972. He worked as a press mechanic for 37 years, a career in which he took great pride, before retiring to spend more time with his family and friends.

Jim enjoyed golfing, hunting, his morning cup of coffee, and relaxing in his garage. He was known for maintaining one of the best yards in the neighborhood and loved spending evenings around his campfire.

In 1974, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Kathy, and together they raised three daughters: Karrie (Jim) Evans, Jamie (Nick) Vande Steeg and Kimberly (Justin) Hanzelka. Becoming a father — and later “Papa” — was his greatest joy. He cherished every moment with his seven grandchildren: Carter, Cameron, Vivian, Scarlett, Jordyn, Killian and Jameson. Jim delighted in watching his children and grandchildren play sports, completing “to‑do” lists for his daughters, vacationing at the beach (despite hating sand), and traveling to Virginia.

In recent months, Jim rededicated his life to the Lord and began attending Grace Fellowship Church in Niles. He was hardworking, easygoing, and deeply committed to providing for his family.

Jim is now reunited in Heaven with his parents, Andy Sr. and Betty; his brother, Robert; and his niece, Lianne.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters; seven grandchildren; his siblings, Andy Jr. (Sharon) Budd, Bill Budd, Richard (Michele) Budd, Jean Vernell and Liz (George) Rimko; and his nephew, Jason Budd.

Jim was a devoted husband, father, Papa, and friend, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Kelley-Cummins Funeral Home, 709 N. Main St., Hubbard.

A funeral service will take place at noon Saturday at the funeral home. Friends may also visit one hour prior to the start of the services.

Burial will take place in Hubbard Union Cemetery
