Jacqueline L. Syrianoudis 1937-2026
LAKE MILTON — Jacqueline “Jackie” Lee Syrianoudis, 88, passed away Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Brookdale Senior Living in Austintown, with her beloved children by her side. Despite the challenges of dementia, she never lost her sweet nature and was cherished by the staff at Brookdale, who went above and beyond in their care and kindness.
Born Oct. 29, 1937, to Norma McKean McChesney and Leroy McLure, Jackie was a cherished member of her community and a devout follower of Christ.
Jackie graduated from Struthers High School in 1955 and dedicated her professional life to serving others in various capacities. She worked as a bank teller at the old Dollar Bank in Struthers, as a kindergarten aide at Fifth Street Elementary and as a secretary for a local photographer.
Her commitment to her work was paralleled only by her dedication to her faith and family. A long-time attendee of Bethel Friends Evangelical Church in Poland and St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Youngstown, Jackie was deeply committed to her faith, even serving as president of the congregation at St. Nicholas. This faith was a cornerstone of her life, as evidenced by her hobbies, which included studying the Bible, and her desire for her family’s spiritual well-being. She left a will, written in 1980, stating her ultimate desire for her husband and children to all have a personal relationship with Jesus. Her wish was fulfilled.
In her leisure time, Jackie enjoyed reading, completing sudoku puzzles and managing a significant collection of over 100 Precious Moments figurines. She cherished the winters spent in Myrtle Beach with her beloved husband, Tom.
Jackie leaves behind a loving family, including her brother, Leroy “Bud” (Marcie) McLure; daughters, Dr. Kimber Zolnier and Christine (John) Pitlik; son, George (Beth) Syrianoudis; grandchildren, Charolette Syrianoudis, Nick (Marcia) Syrianoudis, Alex (Katerina) Syrianoudis, Christian Syrianoudis, Del Syrianoudis, Colin Syrianoudis, Thomas Pitlik, Julia Pitlik, Donny Syrianoudis and Arthur Syrianoudis; and great-grandchildren, Terrance, Ariel, Zayden, Greyson, Lydia, Leonidas, Rose, Alexander and Aliyah. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Virginia Morris; nephew, John Morris; and niece, Lisa Morris.
Jackie was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Tom, who died last month; and son-in-law, Jon Zolnier.
A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home in Youngstown (Cornersburg), with calling hours at 10 a.m.
Jacqueline will be remembered for her kindness, intelligence and warm spirit. Her legacy of faith and love will continue to live on through her family and all who knew her.
Vaschak-Kirila handled all of the arrangements for the family.
