Frank J. Linsley 1932-2026

BELLAFONTE, Pa. — Frank J. Linsley, 93, of Bellefonte, Pa., peacefully entered into his eternal rest while surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 31, 2026.

Born on May 27, 1932, in Youngstown, he was the son of the late Edward “Ned” and Opechee (Johnson) Linsley.

On Dec. 26, 1953, in Youngstown, he married Mary Louise Simko, who survives at home.

Frank graduated from South High School in Youngstown and later earned his bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Youngstown College. While in college, he was part of the Army ROTC program and continued to serve his country in the Army Reserves.

He worked as a chief chemist for LTV Steel for many years prior to his retirement.

Frank was a member of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Spring Mills, Pa.

He was a faithful man, both to his Lord and Savior and to his family. He lived to serve the Lord and his wife of 72 years. He treasured being a husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather, cherishing those memories of his family till the end.

A humble man who was truly happy and satisfied with life’s little pleasures like reading biographies, solving puzzles, family trips, and counting the number of tiny meatballs he rolled up when making Italian wedding soup for big family holiday gatherings. A man of simple tastes, he loved his mother’s applesauce and no-bake chocolate cookies, Cornersburg pepperoni pizza, Handel’s ice cream and, of course, green Jello salad! Garlic and onions, however, never made this list.

Along with his wife, Frank is survived by his four children, Robert K. Linsley of Bellefonte, Pa., James D. Linsley of Canfield, Mark Linsley and his wife, Barbara McGrath, of Bellefonte, Pa., and Mary Lisa Hostetler and her husband, Timothy, of Arizona; two grandchildren, Corey Linsley and his wife, Anna, of Corona Del Mar, California, and Brian Linsley and his wife, Trista, of Columbus; and four great-grandchildren, Seamus, Killian, Ruth, and Quinn.

Along with his parents, Frank was preceded in death by his brother, Edward “Ted” Linsley.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Spring Mills, Pa. Father Brian Saylor will be officiating.

Calling hours will be held from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the chapel located in the Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown, with a committal service immediately following at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family would request that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in honor and memory of Frank.
