Elsie Pagan Rounds 1955-2026

YOUNGSTOWN — Elsie Pagan Rounds passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, April 13, 2026, at the age of 70.

Elsie was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, on April 14, 1955, and had dedicated her adult life to taking care of her parents, her younger brothers and sisters, her children and grandchildren. The love of her life was her son, James “Jimmy,” and the day he was born was her greatest joy. She loved her son with all her heart and never stopped praying for him. Jimmy was never far from her thoughts, and she loved telling everyone about him.

Elsie attended Lincoln Elementary School and graduated from East High School in June 1974. Right after graduation, Elsie went to work at the former Gray Drug store in Youngstown and later worked at the Rite Aid drug store as a store manager. Elsie was also a supervisor at the Walmart store in Liberty, Ohio until her retirement. Elsie loved her work and never missed a day.

Elsie is survived by her son, James Round; daughter-in-law, Jessica Powell Rounds; grandchildren, Jayden and Alex; brothers and sisters, Gloria Strait, Luis (Herminia) Pagan, Matilda (Ruben) Sepulveda, Catalina Pagan Rivera, Carmen (Miguel) Castano, Rose (David) Gossett, Anna Lydia Vega, Jose Antonio (Patricia Latimer) Pagan and Edie Pagan; and all her nieces and nephews, too many to name.

Elsie loved to read and tend to her houseplants; she loved going to the flea markets and spending time with her grandchildren and her beloved sister and partner in crime, Catalina.

Elsie made her home with her beloved daughter-in-law, Jessica Powell Rounds, whom she loved dearly. Jessica was more than a daughter-in-law; she was her daughter.

Elsie was preceded in death by her father, Jose Antonio “Tony” Pagan; her mother, Carmen Pagan; her brother, Francisco Pagan “Chito”; and her nephew, Jabiel Vega “Javy.”

Elsie will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
