Donald J. Stoeber 1932-2026
STRUTHERS — Donald James Stoeber, 94, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 23, 2026.
Born March 19, 1932, in Dickerson Run, Pa., Donald was the son of the late Walter and Merideth Robertson Stoeber.
Donald was a 1950 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School.
He honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
Following his military service, he began his long career at the Rod and Wire Division of Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Later, he transitioned to Seamless and LTV Steel as an electrician, retiring in 1986.
On June 17, 1960, Donald married the former June Chambers. Together, they shared nearly 66 wonderful years of marriage.
Donald lived a full and active life, filled with memories of great friends and family and many miles on the road. He and his wife began their cross-country travels while raising their three boys. During the summer, they’d pack the kids in the car and camper, setting out across North America, making countless memories along the way. This love of travel found a new purpose when Donald’s first grandchildren were born in Illinois and then eventually moved to Texas shortly after. Donald loved taking the motorhome to St. Louis and then later, down to Texas, to visit and watch them play baseball and run cross-country.
He also cherished the shorter journeys to watch his other grandchildren grow up, playing soccer and basketball, competing on the swim team and participating in many other activities in the Youngstown area. Both his children and grandchildren remember his quick wit and mischievous smile greeting them at the end of every game and meet.
Donald was also deeply involved in the Struthers community. He was a proud member of several local organizations over the years, including the Struthers Esquire Club, the Gridiron Club and the Struthers Athletic Club (SAC). For 12 years, he dedicated his time to coaching and mentoring young athletes as the manager of the Rotary baseball team in the Struthers Little League.
In addition to his loving wife, June Stoeber of Struthers, Donald will be deeply missed by his children, Eric Stoeber of Cypress, Texas, Aaron (Dominique) Stoeber of Lake Milton and Kurt (Shaun) Stoeber of Poland; his cherished grandchildren, Colin, Hayden (Laura), Isabel, Luke and Corey Grimm; his brother-in-law, Jim Bradick of Youngstown; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by his brother, Walter T. Stoeber Jr., who was missing in action during the Korean War; and his sisters, Shirley Bradick and Lois Davison (and brother-in-law Vern Davison).
Family and friends may call 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, April 6, with a memorial service to follow at Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., Struthers, OH 44471.
Donald’s family is incredibly thankful for the compassionate care provided during his time at Maplecrest Nursing & Rehabilitation, with the added support of Ohio Living Home Health & Hospice.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, memorial contributions may be made to Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave., Struthers, OH 44471.
Arrangements are being handled by Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers. Online condolences may be shared at www.beckerobits.com.
