Anita J. Limbian 1931-2026
YOUNGSTOWN — Anita Joan Limbian died Sunday, April 26, 2026.
She was born Jan. 26, 1931, in Youngstown, to Daniel and Rachel Lazar.
Anita lived at 1717 Stewart Ave. until her marriage to John Limbian on June 10, 1951. John and Anita built their home and started a family on Shawnee Trail and lived there for 66 years.
Anita worked for the Standard Slag Company for 30 years as the manager of the payroll department.
John and Anita raised their family with Anita’s mother, Buni Rachellazar.
Anita leaves her daughter, Leslie Anne Limbian; and son, John Jeffrey Limbian and his wife, Kerry Lynn Hawn Limbian. Anita also leaves her beloved grandson, John Atticus Jack Limbian, with whom she had a special relationship for 19 years. Anita is survived by her sister, Mary Jane Parra in Texas, and many nieces and nephews around the country. John Mosier was a dear and loved friend.
Anita entered the first grade primarily speaking Romanian at home. She quickly became an avid reader, with her father walking her to the library every week. Reading became her lifelong passion, and after raising her family, Anita obtained an associate degree from Youngstown State University. Travel, gardening, the symphony and an occasional Southern Comfort Old Fashioned were some of her simple pleasures.
The family thanks Heartland Hospice for extraordinary care as Anita passed.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home on Canfield Road, Youngstown, with Father James Barkett officiating. Friends may call at 9 a.m.
Friends will be welcome to celebrate her life at the Avalon downtown at 1 p.m.
Anita will be buried next to John in Belmont Park Cemetery.
Vaschak-Kirila Funeral Home handled all of the arrangements for the family.
