Robert L. Cox 1947-2026
NEW SPRINGFIELD — Robert “Bob” L. Cox, 78, passed away peacefully Monday morning, March 2, 2026, with his loving family at his side.
Robert was born July 15, 1947, in Youngstown, a son of Edison and Dolores French Cox. He was a proud Springfield Local High School graduate, Class of 1965.
Robert cherished nothing more in life than the time spent with his grandchildren, who were his greatest joy and purpose. A skilled craftsman with a steady hand and creative spirit, he took pride in creating custom gun stocks, and he enjoyed testing his work at local shooting ranges with friends and family. Other times were spent tuned into NASCAR races, which he loved greatly.
Dedicating much of his working life in the trades, he served as a welder / fitter and crane operator at Pollock’s and Reichard Industries, where his expertise and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues over many years until his well-deserved retirement in 2011.
He also took great pride in being a National Guard Reserve member for many years, as well as riding auxiliary with the New Middletown Police Department for three years.
He leaves to cherish his precious memory, his wife, the former Patricia Stacy, whom he married Aug. 10, 1974; daughters, Stacy (Kevin) Colwell and Taffy (Jason) Pavone; grandchildren, Morgan (Kirk Wolf) Colwell, Mason Colwell, Aiden Pavone and Elijah Pavone; and brother-in-law, Brad Stacy.
Along with his parents, Robert was preceded in death by a brother, Ken Cox, and in-laws, Lawrence and Gloria Stacy.
Presently there are no services at this time. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests monetary contributions may be made to Mercy Health Hospice of the Valley, 9803 Sharrott Road, Youngstown, OH 44514, in Robert’s honor.
The Cox family has entrusted Seederly-Mong & Beck Funeral Home in Columbiana with the arrangements for their loved one.
