Marnita Lipka 1962-2026
CANFIELD — Marnita “Nia” Lipka, a cherished nurse, devoted wife and beloved grandmother, passed away Thursday, Feb. 26, 2026, in Canfield, at the age of 63.
Born April 4, 1962, in Cleveland, Nia’s life was marked by her profound commitment to the nursing profession and her unwavering love for her family.
Graduating from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing, Nia dedicated her life to caring for others. Throughout her career, she served with compassion and expertise at St. Elizabeth, Northside Hospital, Sharon Regional Hospital and as Director of Nursing at various assisted living facilities. Her colleagues and patients alike appreciated her dedication and warm approach to healthcare, leaving a lasting impact on all those she encountered.
Nia’s personal life was equally vibrant. She shared her life with her husband, Chip Lipka, and their bond was evident in the many adventures they took together, including trips to Las Vegas and camping excursions. Nia also found joy in shooting pool, participating in various leagues, showcasing her competitive spirit and love for camaraderie.
Margaret and Lynn McDowell, and Taylor Hamady, to whom she imparted her wisdom and love, enriched her life by the laughter and joy these young girls brought into her world, and their memories together will forever be cherished.
Nia is survived by her husband, Chip Lipka; as well as her brother, Kevin (Carla) Mankin; and her three granddaughters, Margaret and Lynn McDowell, and Taylor Hamady.
She was predeceased by her loving parents, Virgil and Margaret Fitzwater Mankin Jr.; her daughter, Jennifer Mankin; and her sister, Sheila Mankin.
In addition to her professional achievements and family, Nia had a special affection for her cats, which brought a touch of warmth and companionship to her life.
A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, March 5, 2026, followed at 6 p.m. with a memorial service, to be held at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Boardman-Canfield Chapel, located at 3701 Starr Centre Drive, Canfield, OH 44406.
Nia’s legacy of compassion, love, and dedication will continue to inspire those who knew her, and she will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
