Joan M. Schiavello 1943-2026

POLAND — Joan M. Schiavello, 82, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Masternick Memorial in New Middletown.

Joan was born Oct. 13, 1943, in Youngstown, a daughter of Stephen K. and Margaret Kamensky Klucher.

A proud 1961 graduate of Lowellville High School, Joan devoted much of her life to her family as a homemaker while also working for many years as a service manager at Sears.

Joan married her high school sweetheart, Charles “Chuck” Schiavello, the love of her life, and together they built a home filled with love, laughter and cherished family traditions.

Joan was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of Our Lady of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish in Lowellville, where she faithfully served her parish community. She volunteered in the church office for many years, participated in the prayer group and prayed the Rosary daily with her husband. She also served as a trustee for The Ladies of Mount Carmel Society.

Family was always Joan’s greatest joy. She loved hosting holidays, family gatherings and celebrations that brought everyone together. She will be especially remembered as a wonderful grandmother who created countless memories with her grandchildren – from Disney trips and weekend visits to Grandma and Grandpa’s house to weekly phone calls. Ice cream treats were always part of the fun.

Joan also enjoyed spending time with friends, card club and Rummikub game night with family. She had a creative side and lovingly crocheted many baby blankets that became treasured gifts for family and friends. Joan also had a special love for animals, especially her beloved cocker spaniels, Buffy I and Buffy II, Maddie, Mia, Molly and her most recent companion, Joan Jett.

Joan leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband of 60 years, Chuck Schiavello; her children, Cynthia Schiavello of Eugene, Oregon, and Charles (Elizabeth) Schiavello of Avon Lake; and grandchildren, Zachary Schiavello (Katherine Hess), Nicholas Schiavello, Ellis Schwarz, Jack Schiavello and Lucia Schwarz. Joan is survived by her cherished aunt, Irene “Bubba” Hrusovsky; and niece, Lisa Thompson; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and special cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Margaret Klucher, and her brother, Kenneth Klucher.
